Hi,

Can anyone help me? I did my Infant Aquatics 1 at Culford in April and am now desperately trying to find a STA Baby and Pre-School course to go on before I go back to do my diploma. I have checked with the STA and they only have one planned in Scotland and have also spoken to my STA Regional Organiser, but she knows of nothing planned in the area.

Is anyone holding a course in the near future that may have a spare place? I do live in the north but if I can find a session over 2 days am willing to travel and stay overnight somewhere.

Thanks. Samantha

Hi Samantha,

Hope its all going well. Have you tried the ASA courses instead? If you google ASA level I it comes up with a website that tells you where the upcomng ones are and its updated every week.

Hope all is well with you and baby.

I'm doing lots of swimming with Amanda in Cambridge and Charlie and Claire have been doing some too. Hopefully we might all meet up again at the Diploma course in the autumn!

all the best

Jo.

I am lost somewhere with this. Why is there a need to do the STA parent baby course if you have already taken the Birthlight training? The first 3 days of Birthlight training are the same as the STA course, but with more emphasis on parent baby bonding and also in more depth. Maybe it has something to do with insurance!? I would love to know so hope someone will reply.

Hi Liz,

Thanks for your reply. I was told by Carla in the office that I needed to complete this before I went back for my diploma. I have done the STA level 1 and I know one of the worksheets is identical to the Baby and Toddler and the second worksheet is very similar to the Birthlight training I've done, so it does seem to be duplicating things. I do have STA insurance so not sure why I need the additional qualification, but hope someone can help! Thanks.

Samantha

It would be really useful if someone (Francoise?) could clear this up as its a bit woolly as to which additional qualifications we would require. STA? ASA? Level I or more advanced? Also, the whole ASA system appears to be in for a massive shake up this year with the qualification system changing entirely I'm led to believe.

Please help before we spend hundreds of pounds on additional training that may duplicate what we have already done.

Jo.

Hi everyone.
Samantha, if you have required an STA level 1 already you do not need to do STA parent and Baby. This was only required if you had not received level 1 in ASA or STA.
Either ASA or STA qualification level 1 is required to attend the Birthlight course.
I hope this clears things up for people.
All the best.
Carla
